‘THE DAY’
...... Is now over .....
We were sitting outside the Doctor's office waiting room to be called. It was a long wait.
There were a few moments when my mind was free from fear as our good friend Bob relayed one of the funniest stories I have ever heard. The laughter felt so good. It was a genuinely funny personal story.....I will not repeat it as it is his story to tell. But, take my word for it, it was a good one!
When we were finally admitted to the Doctor’s office, he went through the usual preamble of
‘How are you doing, Al? Good
Feeling well? Good
Your energy? Good
Appetite? Good
Are you still working? Good
......... And Then The Results ........
"The tests came back from your latest CT scan and there’s very little change. The cancer is there, but it is slow growing. There was very little difference between the scan in March and the current one, so there’s no need to do anything at this point. I’ll see you in 3 months."
......And that was it ......
….’Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’
Jesus was very aware that we become concerned about events in our life. We are His creation so He knows the scope of our emotions. Our worry comes because we cannot see past our circumstances…..
My path did not crumble and disappear. The footing continues to be unsure, but it is familiar and a reprieve has been granted.
I am thankful
