I'd Like To Go Back

I'd like to go back,

to yesterday. That is, of course,

if it's not too difficult.....

Perhaps for a few hours if

a day seems too excessive.....

.

Ok, I'll compromise...

How about as far back as the

laughing babies, friends

and the wonderful, calm

sound of water.

.
Since time doesn't really exist

as I know it.....(don't ask me for

an explanation of that

statement)

.

Is it then too much to request a return

to a moment of pleasure?

I'll give it a try......

I've settled my mind,

closed my eyes, folded my

arms, thrown in a few

'Ahhmmms".......and waited.....

.

I'm still here...and it's

precisely 30 seconds later

by my watch.

.

Comparitively speaking, of course,

It's not as though my

life is so blissful that I should be

denied this small luxury......

.

I'm not cruising every 6 weeks;

and my jewelry is referred to

as 'costume'.......

for a reason.

.

I clasp my purse tightly

under my arm

in my own home.....even

though it is virtually empty

of any saleable goods.

.

No! this is NOT the enviable life

enjoyed by the guru of blissfull

silence!

.

I am subjected to

a cacophony of yowls and

howls from 3 PM to 9 PM

and endlessly on weekends.

.

I have a home where stovetops

are stood on and cracked by

invisible feet! and an oven

that self-cleans unless I deny

it the right to self-cool then I

listen to it crack back in anger.

.

I have a car that I have neglected

to lock only once.....only to discover

that someone else likes it

just as much as I do, only

he's messier!

.....Ok....I'll try just one more time ....

Arms folded, lotus schmotus,

Ahhhhmmmmm.....Ahhhhhmmmmm....

Didn't work.....I guess I'm stuck on that

little bump in the circle of life....
