Garbage Day.
It's garbage day today
and I missed it yet again.
I could hear the truck coming
up the lane around the bend.
.
I grabbed three bags in easy reach
and ran out to the lane.
I tossed them in the garbage can
then ran for more again.
.
Our family is so large you see,
we have garbage bags galore.
We fill our cans right up each week
and could really use one more.
.
Our neighbours are so lucky
with their tightly fastened lid.
Ours could never look like that
no matter what we did.
.
We think about our planet
and recycle and re-use.
But still I see that every week
we've piles of more refuse.
.
One day I'll have a little can
like the one I see next door.
But until then I'll squish the bags
to fit in just one more!
